May I suggest "Angela" to honor your and Matt's Greek/Italian heritage. ;)

Someone suggested Jane - I love that name. Simple, elegant, pretty, can cover a person from childhood to adulthood.

Poor matt is SO outnumbered, he'll never again have a say in what DVD to rent for family movie night! :)

Good to hear about the babies, and the sweater looks great!

I think it's useful to have different first initials for everyone, for labeling purposes. My SIL just had twins when her first daughter was 2, all girls, so very similar situation. They didn't get much sleep at first, but already it's getting much easier, and the little ones are just 4 months old. They have Israeli names though, so probably not inspiring, very nature themed though, as they translate to Honeycomb, Laurel, and Myrtle (but are actual names, unlike Honeycomb in English).

The sweater is glorious!

For what it's worth, just don't have them go by their middle names. My parents did that and it just generates a lot more trouble than it's worth to have a first initial!

My favorite girl names are Margot, Sofia, Molly and Merry. No real rhyme to it, other than there is no kid who wants to be named Artemesia (my favorite artist's first name).

The sweater is perfectly lovely, and I am sure you will enjoy it next fall and winter.

As for the discomfort, I slept with a pillow between my knees during each of my pregnancies. It really helped me a lot with that particular discomfort.

I always enjoy your techspeak.

I'm named after my maternal grandmother who was named after her grandmother and so on. My daughter shares her name with my mom, who got hers from her grandmother. I did break pattern and give DD a nice middle name instead of the traditional last name of the paternal grandmother. We're very formulaic in my family, but I didn't have the nerve to go completely against nearly a dozen generations of tough old birds!

Having a pesky name to spell, I'm a fan of easily written names like Jane. Think about what it would feel like to introduce yourself, "Hi, I'm Jane." "Hi, I'm Sabrina, and this is my sister Gwen." ??? I'd ponder nicknames, too.

Though "two" and "three" are, frankly, genius, I love Alison or Irene. Oh, and the sweater is also nice!

Your sweater turned out lovely! What a great addition to a wardrobe of hand-knits.

Congrats on the twin girls! Wonderful! I think names are such a personal choice, but for our baby #2 we're back to a combo of names from our family tree and names we just think are really cool (mostly from mythology).

Lovely sweater! Your analysis of the bust / yoke relationship has me rethinking some patterns I've been eyeing.

As for names, there are so many that would go well with Meredith. If you want the "we are a set" sound, there's Elizabeth, Judith, Gwyneth... Or you could choose almost any classic 2 or 3 syllable name - Hannah, Emily, Eleanor -- lots to think about during those late-pregnancy bouts of insomnia.

Two of my favorite resources for names:

and the totally cool interactive
