I'm with you on the requirements for sock yarn. I've never worn my handknit socks next to my skin because I have sensitive skin and can feel the "prickles" . . . I have to wear a thin pair of commercial socks (which must also be soft yet fit well) and put the handknit sock over these. It's not a big deal wrt thickness because I wear Birkie clogs during the winter, in any case.

But yeah, it would be nice to be able to wear handknit socks with my boots and not feel like I have to take the boots off to scratch my feet . . .

Awesome color. I've knit a mess of yellow socks from a great deal of Shetland that I knew would never make into the sweater and I love them. BTW, I thought of you when I knit a pair of socks that are about 70% merino, 20% alpaca and 10% silk--the yarn is from Peru--I'm at the office and can try to get you the name if you wish. The socks came out great, but not as exciting a color as yours.

What a good idea starting out with commercial superwash merino for handspun sock yarn. So far, I have resisted the call of the turkey roaster.

Wow! I think I have to go to Walmart too! Move over kool aid! What I want to know is you actually spun this in the washer? Did you put the fiber in anything? It probably is a dumb question. That was just to get the excess water out right?

You are incredibly hard on my budget - I've got a Finest hand cranked carder coming (Christmas gift from mom, yay) due to your enabling influence...now, clearly, I'm getting a giant crock pot/turkey roaster.

What dyes? I've been thinking Gaywool, but as always your input will be cherished.

Now that is cheery! I, too, can't wait to see it spun and knit into socks.
